Ethan said “I love you” for the first time this evening. 🩷
I was doing his bedtime & before I left I pressed “I love you” on his AAC device which I have done so many times before – but, this time he grabbed his AAC & pressed the three buttons required to get to “I love you” & he instantly pressed it. 😭🩷
What made this moment even more magical was once he pressed “I love you” & this sounded out around his bedroom, he looked me square in the eyes with the exceptionally cute face he does when he presses something on his AAC he really means. 😭🫶 It was a face I recognised from the early days of his AAC when he would use this facial expression to convey he wanted us to act upon what he had communicated. It was such a beautiful moment. ✨
I went downstairs & cried happy tears – I’m still welling up writing this post. Of course I knew my little boy loves me, but to hear it & to really feel the meaning behind the words with Ethan’s loving facial expression, was a moment I will truly remember forever. 😭🩵
